Discipline?

I need fresh disciplining ideas ... I have a 3 1/2 year-old and he's well behaved for the most part, however, when he doesn't listen to me, he *really* doesn't listen. I prefer not to him, and yelling is also ineffective ... time-outs don't work either. I'd appreciate input and suggestions!
