Pubic lice? how to get rid of them?

is there a way to get rid of without going to the doctor.. i am a little embarred of a doctor fooling around my giblets... i've heard of gasoline and acetone working pretty well.. a buddy of mine was stuck in the woods and had to go number two and didnt have any tp.... he used spanish moss which was infested with chiggers (red bugs) and his rectum (yes even inside) was completely inflamed.. he said he poured on gas and paint thinner with no results.. he finally sprayed raid on his underwear and and that got the job done pretty well.. does anyone know of a good, easy way to get rid of pubic lice? maybe raid?
