Is it safe to use olive oil to clean out your ears?

My right ear has been real bad as far as hearing for a year or so now and I can hear half as good as I used to in it. It ringing nonstop, has a huge wax buildup, and hurts barely even touching it. Im sick and tired of it and its driving me crazy. Ive seen many people say they used warm olive oil and it helped but I want a few more opinions. Thanks!
